Regional One Health is currently seeking qualified and energetic LPNs to work on our Skilled Nursing Unit A Brief Overview Under the direction of the Laboratory Director and supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Clinical Laboratory Educator provides oversight of all training activities in the laboratory, ensuring staff and laboratory students are competent to perform their assigned duties. Maintains competencies in the Core Laboratory departments. Performs various laboratory tests and procedures and reports results. The Clinical Laboratory Educator time is divided between Regional One Health (ROH) and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) depending on the training needs of the respective areas. The Clinical Laboratory Educator maintains competency in all areas of the Core Laboratory in order to function as the clinical instructor for Clinical Laboratory students and employees. What you will do During the peak rotation months of February, March, April, June, July, and mid November, the Clinical Laboratory Educator will work predominantly at Regional One Health (ROH) performing and reporting laboratory procedures, and acting as the clinical instructor for students completing their practicums at Regional One Health. For the remaining months of the year, the instructor will work predominantly at University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), teaching student labs, acting as the clinical coordinator, and assisting with admissions and recruiting. They will continue to work in the ROH Laboratory to maintain clinical proficiency. Coordinates Internships for all Clinical Laboratory students on all education levels. Assists with new employee training, working in conjunction with the Laboratory Supervisor(s). Responsible for providing supervision/oversight of clinical laboratory students Checks validity and accuracy of test results obtained by students Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and equipment. Assists in the calibration and standardization of lab instruments. Responsible for competency in high complexity test performance. Coordinates, assigns and reviews the work of clinical students to ensure that required work is completed and adequate service is provided in an accurate and efficient manner. Assists Supervisor(s) in evaluating employees performance. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to perform Medical Technologist (MT) functions and activities as needed. Performs test for assigned lab area(s), including, but not limited to Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Urinalysis and Immunology. Performs and completes laboratory tests and reports in a timely manner. Resolves complaints, conflicts or operational problems (on any shift). Informs manager of any problems or issues that cannot be resolved or requires further attention. Interacts and works collaboratively in a customer responsive and courteous manner in compliance with standards of conduct and promoting patient/customer satisfaction. Prepares and maintains required records, reports, and files for administrative and compliance purposes. Participates in updating of procedure and quality control manuals. Adhere to established department policies, procedures, objectives, compliance and quality improvement with consideration given to risk management, infection control and patient safety practices. Maintains equipment, instruments and supplies. Reports malfunction of equipment to manager. Maintains a clean.- orderly, safe environment for patients and personnel. Assists in the evaluation of new or modified techniques and methods. Utilizes Laboratory Information System (LIS) to enter and retrieve. lab results. Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department and hospital information. Adhere t.o established department and organizational policies (i.e. HIPAA, Confidentiality, and Compliance Policies). Develops and completes required training and education, including department specific requirements. Responds to problems/opportunities to improve work environment and participates in unit based performance improvement activities which includes committees, monitoring and follow-up. Completes proficiency surveys to ensure that requirements and standards are met in accordance with all regulatory agencies. Performs other duties as required.
