Description

Summary: Under the direction of Director Of Nursing, plans, directs, and coordinates nursing care for the residents. Supervises direct care staff in the performance of resident care. Observes residents for changes in condition, and reports changes to physician. Documents all pertinent resident information, according to facility policy. Maintains strict confidentiality in all resident matters.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee resident care.

2. Assess resident condition.

2. Supervise direct care staff.

4. Communicate with physician about any changes in residents condition.

5. Document according to facility policy.

6. Understand and maintain confidentiality and HIPAA.

7. Assess need for PRN medication and advise CMA to administer medication.

8. Perform ordered treatments.

9. Assess need for additional treatments.

10. Check blood sugar levels and administer insulin as ordered.

11. Administer injections as ordered.

12. Maintain precise and accurate standards in all aspects of resident care.

13. Understand Bethany Home Association policies on abuse prevention, safety, fire safety, severe weather safety and emergency operation plan.

14. Practice infection control according to Bethany Home Association policy.

15. Completes in-service training assigned and attends nurses meetings.

16. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Kansas.

Knowledge of resident care and medical conditions. Insure all physician ordered are carried out as ordered. Ability to organize tasks. Document according to facility policy. Observe any changes in resident condition, and report changes to physician. Supervise direct care staff. Assess need for treatment and administer treatments according to procedure. Achieve precision and accuracy in all aspects of resident care. Ability to work well with people, including staff, residents, families and visitors. Knowledge and practice of facility safety and infection control practices. Understanding of facility policies on abuse prevention, resident's rights and confidentiality. Ability to follow and carry out physician orders in a timely fashion.

Strength: Medium - exerting 20-50- pounds of force occasionally, or 10-20 pounds of force frequently, or negligible -10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Standing or Walking: Constantly (activity exists up to 2/3 or more of the time.)
