3-12 hours 7:00 pm- 7:00 am, weekend rotation in place.
The Licensed Practical Nurse performs nursing functions and duties as prescribed by the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act and Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital standards. May have total responsibility for some patients and assistance from a registered nurse with the care of other assigned patients. Implements the Care Plan and interventions designated by the registered nurse. Performs follow up patient assessments after the registered nurse's initial assessments.
Education and Formal Training: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing with current and valid licensure as Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of North Carolina. Completion of general and job specific orientation program within expected timeframe. Current certification in BCLS and ASLS. New employees will be expected to attain current certification as defined by hospital policy. Employees who do not attain or maintain their certification as required by policy will not be allowed to work or use PTO and may be subject to further disciplinary action.
Work Experience: Prior experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Knowledge of nursing techniques, practice and procedures, drugs, their dosage, actions administration techniques, side effects. Must be proficient in the operation and maintenance of all unit specific equipment. Demonstrate high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with people. Use tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and professional attitude when dealing with patients, families, and co-workers at all times. Knowledge of current hospital emergency policies and procedures is required (fire, safety, disaster, and infection control policies).
