We are currently looking for an experienced LPN who has worked at an acute care hospital to pilot an LPN model at Emerson. MUST START ON APRIL 10,2023, NO ACCEPTIONS Job Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is an important member of the team. Functioning in a team nursing model of care on the medical/surgical unit, the LPN works collaboratively with the RN to deliver a specific skill set and works within the scope of practice as defined by the state board of nursing. The LPN is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide comprehensive, high-quality care to patients. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, nursing care is provided in accordance with the stated philosophy and standards established by the Nursing Service Department, regulatory agencies and professional organizations.Qualifications/ Education:Minimum of 1 to 2 years of Med/Surg experience Graduate of practical nursing school required SkillsBasic nursing skills.Communication skills.Assessment skills.Critical thinking skills.Organizational skills.Excellent customer service skills required.Ability to read, write and communicate in English.Computer skills.Ability to maintain confidential informationCertifications:MA LPN license requiredBLSShiftDays7a-7p24 hours - flex to 36 hours as needed Must be able to flex to 36 hours as needed Every third weekendEvery other holidayJob Functions:Provides safe and effective nursing care, including the delegation of selected activities to unlicensed assistive personnel within their scope of practice.Under the direction of the RN, participates in the development, implementation, evaluation and modification of plans for nursing care for the patient and their familyAccessing central lines for medication administration or blood draws. Serves as the second team member in a two-person independent double check or skin assessments. Performs and documents physical assessments in the EHR.Delivers patient and family education including education specific to the discharge process.Inserts indwelling urinary catheters, Naso-gastric tubes with specific training and competency.Collects lab specimens, performs bladder scans and manages wound dressings including wound vacs. Participates in unit/hospital projects, which seek to improve patient care.Represents the organization in a professional manner in their interaction with others.Maintains communication with interdisciplinary practitioners to meet care objectives.Provides patient/family teaching as appropriate.Coordinates activities of multiple disciplines to meet plan of care.Documents plan findings and evaluation according to policy.Assures the safety of the patient population served by demonstrating age-appropriate skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. Assumes responsibility for attendance according to policy.Meets requirements for mandatory in-services and programs for safety, emergency and competency.Supports the development of staff through mentoring, preceptorship and collegiality.Performs job functions specific to area.Maintains and supports patients' rights to care, privacy and respect.Other duties as assigned from time to time within scope of practiceRate: $70
