Pinoleville Pomo Nation is dedicated to increasing the literacy rates among our community. The Tribe's growing education department is evidence of our commitment to education. This position will serve students in grades Pre-k- 8th. We hope to accomplish our goal of increasing literacy rates by providing activities that incorporate the preservation and promotion of Northern Pomo Culture, language, and early reading activities.

Pinoleville Pomo Nation is seeking a dedicated Literacy Teacher to join our team. You'll have the unique opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of both students and families through the power of literacy. We are seeking a passionate educator who is committed to fostering a love of reading, writing, and communication skills in learners of all ages. As a Literacy Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in equipping students and families with the essential literacy skills they need to succeed academically, professionally, and personally.


Rate: $25/hr.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging and effective literacy instruction tailored to the diverse needs and abilities of students and families.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to address specific literacy challenges and goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community stakeholders to support literacy initiatives and promote a culture of literacy.
  • Integrate technology tools and resources to enhance literacy instruction and develop digital literacy skills.
  • Increase the number of culturally appropriate literacy materials available to the public through the Tribe's library.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an associate's degree in education, literacy or related field.
  • 2 years library or relevant experience with increased responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices and strategies for cultural preservation.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting learners of all backgrounds.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.


Compensation details: 20-22 Hourly Wage
