SUMMARY: To provide instructional leadership by building teacher capacity and increasing student achievement at the secondary level.

QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Current Arkansas teaching certificate,
    • Positive interpersonal relationship skills,
    • Demonstrated team building skills,
    • Masters in Curriculum & Instruction (preferred but not required),
    • Minimum of five years of effective teaching experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS LITERACY FACILITATOR:
  1. Provide professional development training and continued support.
  2. Support curriculum development implementation that may include ensuring internal and external alignment, developing curriculum maps & identifying support resources.
  3. Work with building administrators and teachers in using data to improve individual and school performance.
  4. Work with teachers on developing and implementing effective assessments, both across the district and within classrooms.
  5. Model and support teachers in the implementation of all instructional strategies.
  6. Assist teachers in integrating technology into classroom instruction.
  7. Promote the sharing of effective teaching practices among staff throughout the district.
  8. Serve as a resource to principals in the areas of curriculum, assessment and instruction.
  9. Remain current with best practices and current research on teaching and learning.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Uses effective communication strategies to partner and work with adults.
  • Offers instructional assistance by gathering data, modeling teaching strategies, observing instruction, providing feedback, and consulting with teachers in order to develop and meet student-focused goals.
  • Supports state standards, district curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Plans, delivers, and supports professional learning with individuals/groups of teachers.
  • Assists teachers in high-impact planning to be intentional about what students will be learning and how learning will proceed.
  • Helps gather materials and finds resources to support instruction.
  • Assists teachers with assessment and data-related activities, such as data collection/analysis and examination of student work.
  • Models/teaches/co-teaches - models lessons/strategies or co-teaches with the classroom teacher.
  • Designs and uses a variety of active teaching and learning strategies to improve student performance.
  • Facilitates collaboration and professional growth for instructional personnel.
  • Participates in a collaborative team with district curriculum specialists and other members of the Teaching and Learning Department.
  • Assumes personal responsibility to remain current in best practices and research through independent study.
  • Meets regularly with site principal(s) and Instructional Coaching Learning Team.
  • Submits periodic updates to site principal(s) and Director of Professional Learning to document progress toward meeting site/district goals.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and abilities to work as a member of a collaborative team.
  • Works well with both supervisors and other members of the team.
  • Maintains consistent and punctual attendance.
