POSITION SUMMARY:

Conducts on-site and/or telehealth psychiatric and psychosocial evaluations for patients in the Intensive Outpatient Program. Hold psychiatric consults on a recurrent basis with assigned Intensive Outpatient Program patients. Provide health education/teaching for clients and their families during consultations. Apply evidence-based practices and best practices using trauma-informed approaches for psychiatric treatment.

PRINCIPAL TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conducts on-site and/or telehealth psychiatric and psychococial evaluation for patients in the Intensive Outpatient Program, based on the needs of the department.

Hold psychiatric consults on a recurrent basis with assigned Intensive Outpatient Program patients.

Provide health education/teaching for clients and their families during consultations.

Apply evidence-based practices and best practices using trauma-informed approaches for psychiatric treatment.

Prescribe controlled and non-controlled psychiatric medications.

Manage electronic prescriptions and refills using online health records software program.

Create and maintain timely clinical and medical psychiatric documentation.

Participate in consultative treatment team meetings and provide psychiatric input on the development and implementation of treatment/service plans.

Coordinate psychiatric nursing care activities with other professional disciplines to ensure that the psychiatric nursing plan is consistent with and integrated with the total treatment/service plan.

Order, interpret and record results of clinical tests and report results to patients and treatment team staff.

Maintain an unencumbered psychiatric nurse practitioner license as required by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Be a MediCal-approved provider.

Perform other duties as assigned or necessary for the effectiveness of mental health treatment of Intensive Outpatient Program patients.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
  • Minimum of a Master's in nursing
Licensure
  • Current Registered Nurse license in California
  • Current psychiatric nurse practitioner license in the State of California
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience in either a hospital or a community setting(s)
Other skills:
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be willing to become a MediCal-approved provider or be a MediCal-approved provider.
  • Experience with online prescriptions
  • Familiarity working with electronic medical health records
PAY / BENEFITS
Estimated pay: $60.00 to $90.00 per hour based on qualifications (including but not limited to experience, education, certifications, and licensure where applicable).
