Located in Canton, Ohio, our behavioral health hospital specializes in treating symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, acute psychosis and other mental health crises and co-occurring detox needs. Utilizing a blend of group therapy and clinical treatment, our center provides a safe, therapeutic space. Our team our highly trained doctors and clinicians work closely to develop and oversee individualized care plans, with the goal of build the self-reliance and confidence needed for individuals to integrate safely back into the community.

The Role Itself

Sunrise is currently seeking experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in a therapeutic hospital setting providing care and treatment to patients. Previous experience working with psychiatric patients is strongly preferred.

The LPN provides nursing care to ill or injured persons by assisting in caring for patients by giving direct care. Coordinates and delivers quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders. Assumes direct responsibility for observation, delegation, and leadership of the unit staff and patients. Serves actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the organization, program, and unit philosophy of care. Ensures the safety and well-being of each patient and all medical orders are followed, initiates and follows treatment planning, and acts as a patient advocate at all times. LPN job responsibilities include:

  • Will supervise the shift team with the RN delegating tasks, such as groups, close observation, meal supervision, etc.
  • Will monitor patient for change of condition and respond accordingly up to and including notification of the physician.
  • LPN will follow hospital policy for medication administration.
  • LPN will consistently use empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients.
  • Delivery of quality nursing care to ensure that goals of the treatment plan are properly executed following hospital policies and procedures and demonstrated nursing competencies.
  • Ensures that individual patient observation/checks are conducted.
  • Physician orders are transcribed and administered accurately. Medications are administered safely and accurately with demonstrated knowledge of indications and side effect.
  • Documentation adequately reflects acuity (physical and emotional status). Response to interventions and progress toward goals.
  • Communicate patient's response to interventions to Interdisciplinary Treatment Team and daily report.
  • Will interact with patients and groups of patients to enhance communication and delivery of quality care.
  • Orient patient/family to program. Explain and enforce patient rights and act as the patient's advocate and assure that patient rights are upheld; able to preserve confidentiality.
  • Ensure completion and monitoring of detox protocol.
  • Will monitor patient for change of condition and respond accordingly up to and including notification of the physician.
  • Will follow hospital policy for medication administration.
  • Will deliver quality nursing care to ensure that goals of the treatment plan are properly executed following hospital policies and procedures and demonstrated nursing competencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:


Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited program of licensed practical nursing or relevant state licensure required.

Work Experience:

  • Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred. Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.

Other Requirements

  • License - Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Positive Attitude.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Teamwork, flexibility needed to fulfill job responsibilities, adapting to changes in work environment and accepting supervisory feedback.
