POSITION: Licensed Practical Nurse

SALARY: $28.88-$31.57 DOE

REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing

LOCATION: Colville Tribal Convalescent Center, Nespelem, WA

Basic Functions: Provide direct nursing care to the residents. Supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the NAC's. Such Supervision must be in accordance with all current federal, state, and tribal standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility. Provide the highest degree of care to each and every resident.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Training:
  • Requires a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Washington AND have thirty-six (36) months of work related experience.
  • Must report abuse neglect to state hotline as a mandated reporter.
  • Must successfully clear an extensive Criminal History Background Inquiry and maintain throughout employment.
  • Requires a 1st aid/CPR card or able to obtain within first 90 days of employment.
  • Requires a TB test with negative results or obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Requires a State Drivers' License and be eligible for the Tribes' Insurance throughout employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Requires knowledgeable of nursing, medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Requires knowledge of Geriatrics and LTC setting on Chronic Diseases.
  • Requires the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Requires the ability to cover extra shifts when able, as this facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Requires the ability to participates in admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents.
  • Requires the ability to review, transcribe, and implement physician's orders.
  • Requires the ability to participate in resident assessment and care plan activities.
  • Requires the ability to communicate with physicians, making rounds as needed.
  • Requires the ability to makes nursing rounds to assess residents and evaluate care.
  • Requires the ability to ensure that all nursing service personnel comply with the procedures set forth in the procedure manual.
  • Requires the ability to chart nurses notes clearly and concisely reflecting the care provided, as well as the resident's response to the care.
  • Requires the ability to perform lab draws, wounded care, infection control procedures, IV fluids, Foley catheterizations, peg tubes, and PIC site monitoring
  • Requires the ability fill out and complete transfer forms in accordance with established procedures.
  • Requires the ability to coordinate the information associated with a new resident admission. Participate in the orientation of the new resident/family to the facility.
  • Requires the ability to notify the physician and responsible party(s) when there is a change in the resident's condition and/or death. Call funeral homes when requested by family.
  • Requires the ability to deal with staffing issues re: Nurses, NAC/NAR and other departments on weekends.
  • Requires the ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Requires the ability to work and think independently.
  • Requires the ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds to a minimum height of three (3) feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of fifty (50) feet.
  • Requires the ability to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires emergency preparedness requirements in the Long Term Care setting.
  • Requires respect for resident rights.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes' Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
