We have various weekend part-time positions available. Perform nursing duties and assist's individuals with developmental disabilities with all daily living activities in a residential support program by performing the following duties: Follow, carry out and enforce agency policy and program procedures. Adhere to and follow all regulations and standards as mandated by the Developmental Disabilities Administration for the operation of community-based facility. Demonstrate ability, necessary skills and knowledge to provide care for the individuals according to policy and procedure. Responsible for completion of all required trainings and certifications within 3 months of hire. Responsible for maintaining required annual training re-certifications, including a valid and active State of Maryland nursing license. Provide a positive, safe and clean homelike living environment designed to meet the specific needs of the individuals residing in the home. Understand and respect the individual's fundamental human rights. Complete full system assessments on every shift. Secure routine and emergency medical services as required by need and regulation. Secure follow up medical appointments and recommendations. Interact and communicate with individuals on the appropriate developmental level. Maintain the individual's records/files and complete required forms and documentation. Bathes and dresses individuals, combs hair, and otherwise attends to their comfort and personal appearance. Cleans room, and changes bed linen, performs routine household maintenance/cleaning duties. Takes and records temperature, pulse, and respiration rate. Monitor, dispense, store and record medication and makes notation of amount and time given per the physician and the Medication Administration policies and procedures. Establish and maintain good, positive public relations within the neighborhood and community. Assist and support the individual's relationships with others Gives enemas, douches, massages, and alcohol rubs. Applies hot and cold compresses and hot water bottles. Feeds individuals through G-tube, and records food and liquid intake and output. Tracheotomy Care. Cooks, washes, cleans, and does other housekeeping duties in private home. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Licensed Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited school and previous experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Knowledgeable regarding the nursing process and its application, including the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures related to medication dosages. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid MD State LPN License from the Board of Nursing Current CPR certification Valid Driver's License PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. All employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination series.
