Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Coordinator is a full-time 12-month faculty position that is responsible for the oversight of the School of Health Sciences' LPN program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing high quality student centric instruction in lecture, laboratory and clinical courses, coordinating class and clinical schedules, and advising and tutoring students. The LPN Coordinator will manage course offerings, hiring, assigning courses and supervising part-time faculty. The LPN Coordinator is the lead liaison with external community partners such as UMMS, Luminis Health, and AAWDC for cohort development. The LPN Coordinator will be committed to student success and will provide data analysis of learning outcomes, student demographics and development of plans for improvement. The LPN Coordinator works directly with the Assistant Dean for Nursing and will coordinate with the Nursing Director for clinical placements.

This position is in-person.

This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Nursing.

Daily Supervision: Assistant Dean Nursing.

General supervision: Dean, School of Health Sciences

Job Duties and Responsibilities

LPN Program Oversite and Responsibilities: Providing high quality student centric instruction in lecture, laboratory and clinical courses. Serve as the liaison with external community partners, ensures consistency of instruction, supervises all LPN part-time faculty, provides guidance and advisement to potential and enrolled students, collects and analyzes data to ensure student and program success. Communicates and coordinates with the SHS Lab and Simulation Staff on the laboratory and clinical supplies needed for all courses. Manages lab fees and makes recommendations on the need to increase or decrease these fees.

LPN Program Oversite and Responsibilities: Coordinate curriculum administration, problem solving, curriculum development and planning. Ensure continuity and coordination of classroom, laboratory, directed laboratory and part-time faculty. Collaborate with the Nursing Director to ensure student clinical placement and clinical compliance is met. Conduct assessment and evaluation of part-time faculty at assigned clinical sites. Collaborate with the Nursing Director in hiring part-time faculty for the program. Meet regularly with course faculty and address challenges to student and/or program performance.

LPN Program Oversite and Responsibilities: Collaborate with the LPN faculty to provide all students with learning opportunities and resources to enhance goal achievement and individual student learning outcomes. Track and analyze student performance throughout the semester and communicate each semester with students enrolled in the program to support retention and completion. Collaborate with the Nursing Retention Specialist to address student performance and success challenges. Ensure policies, procedures, didactic and clinical curriculum meet industry need while also ensuring students are progressing in the program. Identifies and implements strategies for retention, equity, inclusion, and completion and is committed to meeting the diverse needs of LPN students.

LPN Program Oversite and Responsibilities: Participates on college and school wide committees, work groups, and professional associations and organizations at the campus, state, regional and national levels. Chairs and oversees the LPN program advisory board committee and ensures the board is diverse and actively provides feedback to the program. Coordinates with the SHS Admissions and Advising office, SHS Instructional Services, and Strategic Communications on the promotion of the program, to include but not limited to development of publications, social media posts, brochures, admission and selection criteria and web page content.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree or higher

Minimum of five years of relevant experience

Experience collaborating with clinical partners.

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Excellent organizational, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Demonstrated commitment to collaborative management, team-building, and consensus building. Clear and consistent demonstration of equity, diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as an LPN preferred

Evidence of familiarity and/or teaching excellence in multiple formats (i.e. online, face-to-face, hybrid)

Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy and mission of the comprehensive community college

Experience with curriculum development; learning outcome's assessment; program evaluations;
and collaborative partnerships
