Short Description

The Outpatient Social Worker is responsible for coordinating the care needs of patients and families suffering from Neurological disease and illness, as well as provide supportive counseling, psychosocial assessment and interventions for patients with complex social, medical, and financial needs. The Neurology LCSW is expected to organize and maintain support group meeting monthly and will maintain the organizational relationship with The Parkinsons Foundation.


The Social Worker also assists the interdisciplinary team in order to help the patient and families cope with hospitalization, illness, diagnoses, treatment, and other issues as they prevent a barrier to efficient patient throughput and quality outcomes.



Experience Required

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a clinical social work experience required.
  • Must demonstrate theoretical knowledge of psychology for Child/Adolescent, Adult/Geriatric populations.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices related to patients with neurological and/or movement disorder diagnosis and case work preferred but not required
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.

Education Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited college/university.
  • LCSW required; NJ social work license.

License/Certification Requirements

Current NJ SW License - (NEW JERSEY SOCIAL WORKER)
