Job Posting Title: Lemuel Heidel Brown Endowed Chair Position Type: Faculty Department: LSUAM Manship School of Mass Communication (Kim Bissell ( Work Location: Journalism Building Pay Grade: Academic Job Description: The Manship School of Mass Communication seeks a distinguished scholar or a distinguished professional for an endowed chair. The intent of the Brown Chair is to enhance teaching and research in the business and economic aspects of mass communication and public affairs. Areas of specialization could include: mass media business models; economic theories of news; corporate structure, corporate communication, strategic communication, organization of mass media industries; commercialization, globalization, new media; new models for funding the news and the role of media in democratic discourse. Job Responsibilities: Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Mass Comm; mentors students and junior faculty. 40% Takes an active role in building the school's graduate program, including a new online MA program. Takes an active role in activities of the school's Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs. 30% Assists with outside contacts for the school. 20% Serves on school and university committees. 10% Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Mass Communication, Economic, Marketing, Business, Political Science, Sociology, History, or related field with 8 years of experience. Specific Experience: Distinguished research record or distinguished record of professional service/ or both Preferred Qualifications: Specific Experience: History of attracting grants or contracts a plus, but not required Additional Requirements: FERPA - As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services.
