Duties Continued from Summary: Proximity Badges, identification credentials, as well as other documents to include vehicle registrations, vehicle passes and Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) cards and passes. Duties: Serves as the work leader by planning, organizing, and coordinating the activities of three or more Security Assistants. Processes applications and issues identification cards, contractor access badges, vehicle registration, and temporary passes to eligible personnel. Maintains controlled forms. Carries out routine, miscellaneous clerical tasks. Provides general customer service. It may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Typing and computer operation is performed, however, a qualified typist is not required. May be required to perform vehicle scans using the Vehicle Scanning System for vehicles requesting entry into the installation. Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, 0086. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes security principles, regulatory provisions, rules, regulations, directives, DoD suitability criteria, procedures and operations to perform such duties as managing the base Visitor Control Center to support controlling, issuing and accounting for restricted area badges and process a wide variety of standard ID cards, contractor access badges or other forms of base access authorization; general clerical office procedures. OR EDUCATION: Four years of education above high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of mission, policy processes, procedures and customer service goals sufficient to perform the routine, procedural work of the Pass & Registration Section, as well as knowledge of general office clerical functions. 2. Knowledge of procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorized documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits or other forms of authorization. 3. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; and produce a variety of documents and reports. 4. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, guide others and accomplish multiple ongoing projects. 5. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. 6. Ability to establish priorities, monitor work flow, make adjustments in work assignments, provide on-the-job training and guidance and provide feedback and instructions from supervisor. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
