Receiving general direction from the Chief, Police and Security, incumbent is the lead investigatory resource for the Police and Security Department. Incumbent is responsible for initial and on-going training of the Police and Security Department and assist in the selection, procurement, installation, and maintenance of security related technology. Incumbent will make day-to-day administrative decisions within the scope of responsibility consistent with established policies and procedures. Incumbent is also responsible for training and compliance consistent with established policies and procedures as well as Project Management to support security infrastructure. Skills: Knowledge of Security Systems and Procedures. Knowledge of regulations, basic enforcement statutes and civil code. Effective communication and de-escalation skills. Ability to build rapport with others. Able to assist lifting patients (apprx 100-150 lbs). Able to stand/walk for extended periods of time. Basic computer skills which may be obtained thru on the job training. Able to physically restrain out of control individuals. Leadership skills to direct Security staff. Organizational skills to work in an efficient, orderly fashion. Able to be flexible, organized and function under stressful conditions. The following certifications will be required (and provided by department): AVADE - De-escalation Certification, Posey Restraint training, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certification, Defibrillation Certification. Preferred: Membership in IAHSS. Experience: Minimum of five years' experience in security or law enforcement required Minimum of two years in a supervisory/management role Experience working in the healthcare environment is strongly preferred Education: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice of a related field is preferred. An advanced degree (Master's level or higher) is preferred. A combination of experience, education, and/or military experience will be considered. License and Registration: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license from the state in which the employee resides Must be able to pass an annual criminal background and driving history check Must be able to obtain certification in the following, and maintain active certification throughout employment: AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention Handcuffing Training First Aid/CPR/AED Stop the Bleed and Narcan HazMat Level C Operations (All Hazards Awareness for Healthcare Personnel and Healthcare Personal Protective Equipment Operations) Preferred Qualifications: International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) preferred Massachusetts License to Carry Class A Licensure Ability to be licensed as a Special State Police Officer under the Commonwealth of MA General Laws Chapter 22 C, section 63. Knowledge and Skills: Requires excellent ability in the areas of leadership, training, security systems, investigations and safety. Must be detail-oriented and organized, with good analytical and problem-solving ability. Takes proactive approach to solve issues associated with tasks utilizing exceptional critical thinking skills. Must be able to prepare clear and concise reports and routine correspondence. Notable client service, communication, presentation and relationship building skills required. Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment required. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to handle complex interpersonal situations and crisis management scenarios. Must be reliable and flexible. Demonstrated program and policy development a must. Demonstrated ability to use PCs, Microsoft Office, and general office equipment required
