POPULATION SERVED: The position does involve direct patient care for a population of patients ages 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise are required to serve this population. POSITION SUMMARY: A Lead Imaging Services technologist assists the department director/manager in overseeing the internal operations of the department and provides diagnostic imaging services to patients. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a two-year accredited Radiology Technology program. Must be California Certified Radiologic Technologist with Fluoroscopy. At least one year experience in general radiography required. One year hospital setting required. Use of medical technologies, performing diagnostic procedures, informing others, quality focus, planning, technical understanding, people skills, dependability, creating a safe effective environment, radiologic technology, analyzing information. JOB DUTIES LEAD TECHNOLOGIST DUTIES: Ability to work in demanding role, handling stress appropriately Proactively identifying challenges, strong ability to problem solve Commitment to Service Excellence, mentoring employees and students Manage resources effectively, identifying opportunities for better efficiencies Mange patient flow, meeting department standards for turn-around times Dispatch transporters Superuser for RIS and PACS - acting as point person for technologists and physicians Responsible for technologist schedule (day to day and on-call) Participate in rotation of department management for weekend on-call duties Assist department manager with employee evaluations Coordinate orientation of new employees Assure compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory requirements Assure compliance with all department and hospital policies and procedures DIRECT PATIENT CARE: Perform and complete diagnostic procedures accurately Give patients an explanation of procedures to perform & acquire appropriate consent forms and paperwork To follow protocol to assure no misadministration of radiolucent substances To follow radiation safety protocol at all times To provide care appropriate to the age of the population served. INDIRECT PATIENT CARE To complete assignments on time and utilize time effectively To support cost containment efforts of the Medical Center through conservation of supplies and care of equipment COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: To work at establishing good rapport and working relationship with all staff. To complete the appropriate documentation. To communicate in English in patient care areas. To report any unusual occurrences, situation, or hazards to appropriate personnel. To report any malfunctioning of equipment. Able to work independently within scope of assigned tasks with minimal instructions. Consults with Director, Manager, Supervisors, and Radiologists. INFECTION CONTROL Knows universal precautions in the use of gowns, gloves, eye protection, masks, and sharps Knows universal precautions in the disposal of soiled linens and items. Knows proper cleaning techniques. Knows proper handwashing protocol. MANAGEMENT OF ENVIRONMENT OF CARE Knows the guidelines for waste management Knows and follows MSDS guidelines SAFETY To adhere to safety factors when administering ionizing radiation To demonstrate knowledge of safety, infection control, and emergency policies and procedures To be responsible for personal radiation dosimetry badges QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM To participate in quality improvement activities ADHERENCE TO CORE VALUES To incorporate CORE values into a daily routine STANDARD OF CONDUCT Conduct all activities in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
