Job Description
Position Overview This employee will set up CNC machines and lead a team of 3-4 CNC Operators.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Actively observe and promote safety standards.
- Oversee warm up procedure for the CNC machines before cutting parts.
- Schedule/coordinate jobs for multiple CNC milling and turning machines.
- Manage all cutting tools by caring for, ordering, and controlling inventory levels.
- Assist CNC operators with basic CNC trouble-shooting and Service questions.
- Manage finished (non-anodized) parts inventory by maintaining established, minimum quantity levels.
- Advise Operations Manager on material ordering needs.
- Participate in facility maintenance program.
- Oversee preventive maintenance program for CNC machines, air compressor(s), tumblers, etc.
- Obtain raw materials from part racks and place in a staging area for the team using material handling equipment, like the Big Joe forklift and pallet jack.
- Assign bin locations to parts that do not have one.
- Maintain all parts bin labels with the latest revision letter.
- Assist with inventory control which includes cycle counting.
- Keep the aisles clean and cleared of obstacles.
- Maintain a clean and organized work station and work place.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received Supervision Exercised Minimum Qualifications and Skills - High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Able to accurately and consistently set up Haas CNC Vertical Mills and live tool lathes for production runs.
- Able to train Machine Operators on correct set up methods and techniques.
- Able to develop, manage, and oversee processes for a shop-floor quality control program.
- Ability to fully comprehend work instructions, prints, and work orders.
- Ability to count, read, and write numbers and common vocabulary; ability to read warning signs; ability to lift more than 50 pounds; ability to demonstrate full range of motion for reaching, bending and stooping.
- Certified to operation for lifts, forklifts, pallet jacks, ladders, digital scales, etc.
- Ability to accurately assess condition of parts to be pulled/rejected.
- Able to adapt to changes in job content. Most likely, every 6 to 12 months a major change in your job content will likely occur.
- Must be able to see 20/20 with or without corrective lenses and have depth perception.
- Must be able to safely lift object with correct body mechanics.
- Must be able to repetitively use tools with your hands.
- Must be able to work in all seasonal conditions.
- Must be able to manipulate fine parts and tools.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills - Trained in Quality Assurance.
- Able to repair damaged fixtures.
- Possess fixture making capability.
- CNC programming capability.
- Able to use 3D software packages, like Solidworks, Mastercam, or Fusion.
- Able to provide advanced-level CNC machine trouble-shooting and servicing.
- Prototype creation capability.
