About this role:

Due to the company's consistent growth, WORKS by JD is currently recruiting a Lead Carpenter to join our team.

As one of the junior leadership positions in the company the Lead Carpenter is required to collaborate across WORKS BY JD, and is responsible for mentoring a team of Carpenters, and Apprentice Carpenters. This role involves managing teams, projects, and materials, as well as administrative tasks and ensuring compliance with OSHA & EPA regulations, safety, scheduling, and quality standards. The Lead Carpenter's responsibilities range from framing to finish carpentry on residential work sites. The successful applicant will be familiar with all activities and tools associated with providing experienced carpentry work. All work performed must be up to the standards and specifications laid out in the WORKS by JD building and standards documentation provided to all employees to ensure the work can be warrantied for 5 years.

Key responsibilities of the role:
  • Perform as lead carpenter, overseeing a crew of carpenters throughout the project.
  • Complete frame to finish or beginning to end of the construction.
  • Able to independently handle more complex carpentry work and resolve problems.
  • Review the project scope, interpret drawings, and plans and communicate information clearly to the team.
  • Ensure the project is on budget and on schedule.
  • Ensures contract specifications are adhered to and of the highest quality.
  • Responsible for managing materials, maximizing resources, and managing workflow.
  • Conduct safety meetings. Ensure safety and maintenance protocols are being followed.
  • Provide training for less senior carpenters and apprentices.
  • Communicate with clients and WORKS by JD leadership on the progress of the project, change orders, schedule adjustments, etc.
  • This is a forward-facing position dealing with clients, neighbors and the public. Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor is expected.

Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years of frame to finish experience
  • High-end residential remodeling experience
  • Experience in supervising other co-workers and subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Accustomed to extreme weather conditions, heavy lifting, and stamina
  • Ability to work independently
  • Exceptional professionalism
  • Possessing a positive work ethic
  • OSHA 10 and RRP certifications (a plus)

Other Requirements
  • Valid driver's license, solid driving record, and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to undergo a background check
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
