Job Title: Lead Carpenter
Reports To: Director of Reconstruction
Serves: Property Owners, Property Managers, Project Managers, Construction Technicians, Crew Leaders, Subcontractors, and Material Vendors

Position Overview: Are you passionate about assisting community members during their times of need, bringing advanced carpentry skills to the table? If so, we invite you to join our Reconstruction team as a Lead Carpenter. Your expertise in carpentry will play a pivotal role in completing diverse restoration projects with precision, durability, and utmost customer satisfaction. A successful candidate will confidently execute various carpentry tasks, from demolition to the finished product, while effectively managing and coordinating local subcontractors, material vendors, in-house production staff, and building inspectors.

Responsibilities:
Carpentry Work:
Perform advanced carpentry tasks including: site preparation, framing, flooring, roofing, siding, cabinetry, and trim work.
Repair or replace damaged structural components.
Address punch list and warranty items as needed.
Maintain consistently high-quality craftsmanship throughout the restoration process.

Project Planning:
Collaborate with project managers and customers to comprehend project objectives, requirements, and timelines.
Assist in developing detailed project plans, including materials, labor estimates, and schedules.
Estimate and approve change orders (up to $500).

Leadership and Supervision:
Supervise and lead a team of subcontractors, material vendors, in-house construction specialists, and technicians.
Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to team members.
Ensure strict compliance with job site inspections, safety regulations, and company policies.
Uphold job site cleanliness, professional appearance, expert workmanship, and effective communication among all parties.

Material Procurement and Management:
Order, receive, and manage materials and supplies for the project.
Ensure materials meet the required quality and quantity standards.
Collaborate in negotiating pricing with material vendors and expedite material and equipment purchase orders.
Facilitate returns for reusable building materials and arrange donations for non-returnable items.

Budgeting and Cost Control:
Monitor project budgets, control costs, and provide regular financial updates.
Identify and report potential cost overruns or scope changes.
Receive progress payments throughout the restoration project.

Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of work progress, daily reports, and change orders.
Prepare and submit progress reports to project managers and customers.
Organize and store all documents related to the restoration project, including building permits, work authorizations, and certificates of satisfaction, using appropriate software.

Requirements:
Proficiency in office and field operations.
Previous experience in supervising internal employees and external trades.
Competence in the safe and correct use of hand and power tools.
Adaptability to various software tools for schedule management, budget tracking, and material ordering.
Ability to lead, mentor, and engage in continuous improvement.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong risk management and documentation abilities.
