Position Summary Under the general supervision of the Executive Director for the Kickapoo Reserve Management Board (KRMB), this limited term position (LTE) will be 90% field work and 10% indoor work. For more information, please view the position description. This is skilled manual labor work. Duties may include but not limited to: Maintenance of trails, campsites, river access sites, roadsides, and common use areas. Mowing and trimming camp areas and trail-heads. Assisting with logjam clearing. Set up and take down of equipment and supplies for special events and education programs. Cleaning State vehicles; regular maintenance of tools, mowers, gear and equipment. Distributing and collecting trail and camping permit information. Posting signs on Reserve perimeter, boundaries, and recreation trails. Greeting, answering questions, and providing information to visitors of the Reserve. Assessing and assisting in trail maintenance and construction. Rehabilitation of priority areas on the Reserve: Tasks may include chainsaw use, controlling invasive species, native habitat restoration and tree planting. Salary Information The starting rate for the Laborer (schedule/range 03-08) position will be $15.00 per hour - $15.86 per hour depending upon candidate qualifications and experience. Job Details This position requires the ability to perform physical labor and walk over steep, rough terrain with potentially thick vegetation, lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation, work a flexible schedule up to eight hours, including in an outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions, nights, and weekends to meet operational needs. This position also requires a valid driver's license and to meet the State's Fleet Standards. The selected candidate is also required to show proof of - or obtain - ATV Safety, Chainsaw Safety certifications; and/or attend Chainsaw Safety training upon appointment. This position is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year). Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions. Limited Term Employment positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status. Due to the nature of the position, the Department of Administration (DOA) will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. Qualifications Qualified candidates will have experience with each of the following: Operating handheld and power tools Utilizing maps, compasses, and/or GPS In addition, well qualified candidates will have experience with: Operating tractors, chainsaws, ATV's, UTV's and mowing equipment.
