Overview Fairview Health Services is looking for a Laboratory Unit Coordinator at M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. This is a part-time position, working 48 hours per 2 week-pay period, straight day shifts, from either 6:00am-2:30pm, 6:45am-3:15pm or 9:15-5:45-pm, and every other weekend 6:00am-2:30pm. The schedule week one of the pay period is Tue 6:45am-3:15pm, Fri 9:15-5:45-pm, Sat/Sun 6:00am-2:30pm. The schedule week two of the pay period is Tue 9:15-5:45-pm. There will also be one 8-hour shift per pay period floated to a day of the highest staffing need. This position includes 2-3 holiday shifts per year 8:45am-12:15pm. Are you interested in benefits? Responsibilities/Job Description The Clinical Laboratory Unit Coordinator plays a vital role in the operation of the outpatient lab as well as specimen receiving and processing. Performs functions associated with accurately transcribing physician orders, and receiving & ordering laboratory tests into the LIS computer system in a timely manner. Handles coordination and flow of outpatient laboratory services and COVID-19 swab collection. Processes and triages laboratory specimens. Greets and assists patients, healthcare workers and provides excellent customer service. Multi tasks and exercises independent thinking and skills. Participates actively in department problem solving. Ensures HIPAA policies and procedures are met. Maintains office supplies. Provides care or service, adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Ability to read, write, and speak proficient English Experience with customer service, computers, and clerical tasks Preferred Qualifications Associates/Vo-Tech graduate Knowledge of medical terminology. 1 year clerical/customer service experience in a laboratory setting. Other Required Skills Evidence of successful customer service background within a diverse cultural setting Desired Skills Prior experience in hospital or clinic laboratory setting in a similar capacity Prior direct contact with patients in a health care setting exposure to/or experience with computerized order/data entry systems prior work experience in an environment requiring critical thinking skills demonstrate effective team work ethic in prior positions.
