About the Opportunity: The Laboratory Technician is responsible for general laboratory task such as buffer preparation and operation of appropriate laboratory equipment. Take direction from and works in collaboration with Technologist in flow cytometry department. Responsibilities Note: Other duties may be assigned. Creating batches in LIS (Exemplar) prior to testing. Washing and lysing of whole blood. Manage sample storage. Support inventory tracking system in place for department supplies and reagents. Operates lab equipment such as TECAN-EVO 100, HELMER Ultra-Cell Washer and Eppendorf centrifuge. Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment including troubleshooting. Preparation of routine laboratory buffers and solutions (1% Wash buffers, 10% Diluent and 1X Lysis buffer). Disposal of biohazardous waste using safety procedure. Performs high complexity testing in Flow laboratory under the supervision of the CLS. Demonstrate expertise in analysis of cells and identification using flow cytometry method. Accurately identifies each specimen and test order to ensure results are accurate and reported in a timely manner. Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties to meet timelines. Communicate effectively with laboratory supervisor regarding special needs and maintenance of the department. Qualifications Ability to work Tuesday to Saturday (full time, 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and requires the ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime hours as needed. Must be able to use general office equipment including computer, telephone, copier, etc. Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Bachelor's degree or college courses in science. Pay range: $25 - $29/hr
