Lab Attire Requirements: Smock Gloves Plating Requirements: Capable of plating all RTC, RTE, and NPIS samples and other plating samples as needed. Ensure all supplies needed for plating are ready on a daily basis. Set up and make bags or cups for plating. Make sure on product and rinses the accurate amount of sample and media are used per company procedure. On product testing prepare and make slurries for plating as described in company procedure. Ensure proper dilutions are made for plating. Make sure all plates are labeled so they can be identified with paperwork. Make sure work space is clean and sanitized prior and after completing each plant samples. Make sure hands are clean or gloves are changed before and in between plating. Ensure all media and Petri Film used for plating expiration dates are good. Ability to use 3M Petri Film Reader to read plates or do a visual count. Pathogen Testing Requirements: Ensure all supplies needed for testing are on hand. Set up and make bags or cups for testing. Make sure on product and rinses the accurate amount of sample and media are used. Prepare and make slurries for testing. Make sure work space is clean and sanitized prior and after completing each set. Make sure hands are clean or gloves are changed before and in between testing. Ensure that all media used for testing expiration dates are good. Label all baskets and racks with date and time. Record results and report all positives to Lab Manager. Autoclave & Media Making: Able to operate Autoclave for making media, sterilizing, and killing waste. Label and stored all media properly. Properly dispose of autoclaved wastes. All media quantity and autoclave time is recorded on log sheet. Media that requires PH is checked and recorded. Padded gloves are used for handling hot media or hot items retrieved from autoclave. Deionized water used to make media make sure it is changed when red light is on. In addition periodically test for APC to ensure no contamination is present GLP (Good Lab Practices) Safety precautions are used daily. Proper attire is worn daily. Report all lab errors to management immediately. Make sure errors on paperwork are properly documented by crossing out with one line and initial. No eating, drinking, or cell phone usage in lab. Aware and know where all SDS sheets are located. Special Projects, Shelf Life, & Bio-Mapping: Able to do any special project for example: Shelf life studies or Bio-Mapping Studies and others as needed. Chemical Testing: Able to assist on Retain Water samples. Able to assist in salt testing & moisture testing NSI Testing: Participation in NSI Lab Solution check sample testing. Training: Participate in all audit and chemical training. Supplies and Expired Media: Notify lab assistant when supplies are needed to be ordered. Properly discard all expired media. Avoid wasting materials in order to maintain budget. Work Schedule: Ability to work weekend schedule Willing to work over time when necessary Education: Typically requires Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical/High school; however, additional related work experience will be considered in lieu of the education requirement.
