Laboratory Technician

Primary purpose:Provide product quality control through sampling and analytical testing the various commodities stored at a petrochemical terminal facility. Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Perform control charting and equipment calibration as required.
• Customer reporting including analysis feedback reporting (SAP systems)
• Manage sample retain and retention program.
• Customer Quality Log development, record control and maintenance.
• Generate Certificate of Analysis (COA) documents.
• Research/create testing programs for new products.
• Perform routine cleaning/maintenance/repair on all lab equipment.
• Order lab equipment and supplies as needed.
• Coverage for other terminal lab technicians and personnel as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned. Education and experience:Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related Technical field or equivalent work experience may be used as an equivalent.3-5 year minimum experience performing and detailed knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis methodology.Competencies, skills, and abilities:Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules, as well as, take on additional job responsibilities as needed. Customer service skills, able to effectively communicate and work with all levels of management and employees, as well as external customers.Strong mathematical skills (Addition, Subtraction, Fractions, Multiplication, and Percentages) are requiredPhysical requirements:Walking up and down stairs/ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and carry up to 50 pounds.Must be able to wear standard PPE (Hard Hat, Goggles, Rain Gear, Steel Toe Boots), and qualify to wear a Full Face Respirator.Certifications, licenses, registrations:Successful completion of a background check, physical and drug screen upon offer.Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
