Laboratory Technician

To assist the Laboratory Curator with maintaining the chemistry teaching labs. Duties and Responsibilities The Morehouse College Chemistry Department is seeking a talented Laboratory Technician to assist the Laboratory Curator with the inventory of chemical compounds and with the preparation of equipment and reagents for the teaching labs. This individual will ensure the preparation and availability of teaching materials, reagents, media, samples, and equipment. The Laboratory Technician will maintain chemical inventories for the teaching laboratories, operate specialized equipment and assist the Laboratory Curator with other duties as necessary. The Laboraotry Technician may also recommend revisions to laboratory experiments for review and approval by others, assist with laboratory experiments, as required, perform tests to ensure that lab equipment is operating to standards, install and configure hardware and software, monitor instructional space, equipment storage space, repair equipment, and report any deviations if necessary. The Laboratory Technician will also maintain laboratory safety standards in compliance with organizational and federal guidelines, including weekly testing of teaching laboratory eyewash stations and fume hoods. The individual will also be responsible for assisting with maintaining the chemical inventory, the storage of chemical hazardous waste, and other duties as needed.
