Laboratory Processing Assistant II

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Laboratory Processing Assistant II to join the Animal Health Diagnostic Center's Client Resource Team. The Lab Processing Assistant II acts under the direction of the Client Resource Team Supervisor and supports the daily activities of the AHDC by serving as the front line for client service and assisting with the processing of incoming submissions. Highly collaborative, they effectively communicate across levels to assess shareholder needs, respond to inquiries, and appropriately process test requests. Their excellent time management and positive attitude allows them to move efficiently between responsibilities, ensuring their success as they work under pressure in a team-based environment. A keen attention to detail is important as this individual performs critical data entry. Position Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To Actively participate in a broad range of client support and data entry responsibilities while collaborating across multiple units Actively serve as a point of contact for client inquiries Perform basic sample processing tasks: Open packages, handle samples, generate accessions, etc. Maintain detailed and accurate records Monitor and maintain certifications and trainings to meet job expectations and requirements Participate in a rotational schedule to perform duties within the Client Resource Team unit Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma and one year of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of experience Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate across levels Works well both independently and within a team environment Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with tact and discretion Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time at computer stations or benches Employees working in the laboratory must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department. Preferred Qualifications Associate's Degree and one year of relevant work experience or equivalent combination Successful performance working in human or veterinary medical setting Demonstrates initiative for self-professional development and seeks growth opportunities Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing. Important Details about the Position This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY. This is a full-time three-year term position with potential for extension contingent upon funding and performance. We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position. While the regular business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, the specific schedule may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and University holidays and scheduled breaks.
