Lab Technician

Job Details:

Title: Lab Technician I

Location: Portsmouth NH 03801

Type: Contract - 12+ months

Pay range: $20- $23/hr. on W2.

Key responsibilities:

• Support R&D projects through execution of routine lab activities based on established procedures

• Assist with the preparation and operation of bioreactor experiments

• Perform daily, aseptic sampling of bioreactors, including routine offline analysis (cell concentration, metabolites, product quality, etc)

• Perform general lab support activities, including routine instrument standardizations, solution and reagent preparation, glassware cleaning and autoclaving

• Inventory and stock lab supplies

• Assist with lab organization activities

Key requirements:

• Associate of Science degree in Biological Sciences, or similar science background

• Experience with aseptic technique highly desired.

• Ability and willingness to learn new skills.

• Self-motivated and self-directed

• Effective communication skills

Skills: What analytical capabilities or niche skillset does this role require?

• Upstream Associate Scientist must be able to execute the following tasks;

i. Daily monitoring and sampling of bioreactor cultures

ii. Standard analytical equipment calibration (i.e. pH probes)

iii. Aseptic technique and inoculum culture expansion

iv. Preparation and filtration of media and buffer solutions

v. Primary recovery of cell culture, including centrifugation, filtration, concentration

• Downstream Associate Scientist must be able to execute the following tasks;

i. Preparation and filtration of media and buffer solutions

ii. Column Packing and Qualification (HETP/Asymmetry)

iii. Column Chromatography

iv. UF/DF (TFF) - batch mode or single-pass

v. Basic sample handling and analytical techniques (eg. pH, conductivity, protein concentration measurements)

• Process Analytical Scientist must be able to execute the following tasks;

i. Standard analytical equipment calibration (i.e. pH & Conductivity Probes)

ii. Preparation and filtration of media and buffer solutions

iii. Basic protein analytical techniques (HPLC, iCE, SDS-PAGE)

iv. Data analysis of basic protein analytical techniques

8 hour shift
Monday to Friday
