Lab Shift Supervisor is a line supervisor responsible for the safe conduct of assigned Lab activities. This individual is qualified in accordance with Lab Analytical training requirements to supervise operation and maintenance of the analytical radiological laboratory equipment system and directs Lab Analytical operations staff in the performance of their duties. The Lab Shift Supervisor takes direction from the Lab Analytical Operations Manager. May be directly responsible for coordinating operations activities within the assigned areas. Performs complex assignments within approved schedules and budgets. Expected to use independent decision-making regarding resolution of problems. May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project. Assists in the training and evaluation of assigned technical staff. This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC Major Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations. Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments Develop facility related procedures and work instructions Keeps the Lab Analytical Operations Manager advised as to status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budget, delays and adverse problems Assists with training technical and scientific personnel Provides technical assistance and guidance to technical and scientific personnel Assures quality, quantity, and completeness of the work required Plans and schedules scientific efforts associated with assigned projects Maintain timeliness and accuracy of oral and written technical reports regarding assigned scientific activities Maintains proper scientific files and records Builds productive relationships within Operations and with external work groups Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment This job description is not intended to include every duty, task or instruction for which an employee is responsible. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform as Lab Analytical Shift supervisor providing technical direction, training, and evaluation of assigned scientific personnel. Develop and maintain project schedules, allocate resources, and monitor progress. Identify housekeeping and facility material condition deficiencies to the appropriate organization(s) for corrective action Maintain awareness of the facility status and ensuring that facility equipment, including equipment operated by others in support facility operations, is operated in accordance with written and approved procedures Responsible for the performance of personnel assigned Support initial investigation of abnormal events, including the quarantine of equipment and systems as necessary Perform periodic tours of the assigned areas to observe activities and ensure they are being performed safely and in accordance with approved procedures Maintain overall authority and responsibility for the direction and control of assigned activities including those conducted by supporting groups and on-job-the-training (OJT) activities Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate or bachelor's degree in chemistry or physical science highly preferred. Degree in engineering or science may be substituted for two years of experience. Experience: 2 years of supervisory experience and 8 years of experience and/or a combination of operations in nuclear or high hazard waste treatment plants desired. Shift Operations in a DOE production facility or High Hazard facility, including working knowledge of Conduct of Operations highly preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Exposed Field Non-Manual (EFNM)-LAB Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and selected candidate must be willing and able to work a rotating shift schedule, 4 days on / 4 days off, 2 weeks days, 2 weeks nights Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS HIRING SALARY RANGE: $112,835.92 - $178,251.96 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
