Hours:, Tuesday :00 am to 5:00 pm Thursday, Friday 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm Job Summary Responsible for specimen collection and processing, performing and interpreting technical laboratory testing, reporting reliable test results and coordinating physician orders. Provides and/or collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of patient care. Job Duties the following, other duties may be assigned: Collects patient samples for analysis, including venous, capillary, urine and stool specimens. Performs lab analysis to determine the chemical components. Performs daily quality control checks each day of testing prior to patient testing. Reviews lab results for erroneous results or critical values prior to entering information into the Electronic Health Record. Notifies physician of critical values and documents date, time and resolution. Maintains and documents preventative maintenance of equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Maintains a safe and clean work environment including daily cleaning counter areas, cleaning spills, and performing other tasks to maintain appropriate work area according to established policies. Takes an inventory of laboratory supplies, reordering when necessary. Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence and compiles statistics as necessary. Maintain patient confidentiality regarding procedures performed. Utilizes universal precautions in handling infectious material. Keeps current with laboratory trends by reading professional journals and attending conferences/seminars as appropriate. Follow the laboratory established corrective action procedure whenever test systems are not within the laboratory established acceptable levels of performance. Documents all corrective actions taken. Follow company policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, HFAP, CLIA, COLA and all other regulatory agencies. Document all quality control measures, calibrations and instrument maintenance. Maintain records that demonstrated that proficiency testing samples are tested. Recognizes problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and correct the problem or immediately notify the appropriate person(s). Follows the laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, result reporting, and record maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with Standards of Employee Conduct Education and Experience Must be one of the following: High School Graduate, or GED Trained individual under the supervision of a Registered Medical Technologist. One year phlebotomy experience preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certified phlebotomist or CMA preferred.
