Junior Staff Accountant

LOCATION

Winter Park, Florida


GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The junior staff accountant supports the accounting department by performing routine accounting activities. This role assists in ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and company procedures.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, verify discrepancies, prepare and process payments, and assist in collections as needed.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger by recording transactions, updating accounts, and reconciling balances.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, under the guidance of a senior accountant or Controller.
  • Budgeting Support: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts by gathering and analyzing financial data.
  • Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Expense Reconciliation: Reconcile company expenses by verifying entries and comparing them to supporting documents.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing tax returns and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct basic financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software and spreadsheets to maintain financial records and generate reports accurately.
  • Documentation and Record keeping: Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation for audit and reference purposes.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in accounting or finance roles desired, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn with a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Information

  • This is an entry-level position with opportunities for growth within the accounting department.
  • Training and mentorship will be provided to support professional development.
  • This role may involve occasional overtime during month-end and year-end close processes.
