Job Description JOURNEYMAN ELECTRO-OPTICAL ENGINEER MGTF Eglin AFB Open Position Request Number R-OO-23 CLASSIFICATION: Journeyman Electro-Optical Engineer; Salary TBD GRADE: Exempt; Regular, Full-Time LOCATION : Guided Weapons Evaluation Facility (GWEF), Eglin AFB, FL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide journeyman level expertise to resolve the moderately challenging problems in the area of responsibility. Work independently to solve moderately difficult tasks with occasional support and consultation with senior level personnel. Provide support for electro-optical systems design and implementation. Provide expertise in the area of IR, UV, and LASER radiometry including analysis, alignment, and calibration of detector/sensor systems. GENERAL DUTIES: Design, develop, integrate, maintain, and upgrade EO systems for the purpose of missile test and evaluation via HITL simulation. These systems include GWEF-unique visible, UV and IR scene projection systems, LASER target simulators, LADAR projectors, radiometers, broadband spectrometers, imaging IR systems and imaging radiometers. Design and develop unique optical target simulators for guidance system stimulation. Analyze optical system limitations and develop alternative simulation approaches to overcome performance limitations. Job Requirements OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job related areas. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must possess BS from an accredited school in Optical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, physics, or a closely related technical field as appropriate to the position and a minimum of five years of experience in specialized or focused areas related to electro-optical systems design and implementation. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Top-Secret security clearance. Candidates may have a Secret clearance that has been adjudicated within the last 5 years. Must meet requirements to operate in enhanced security environments. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company quality, safety, environmental, security and administrative policies; supports process improvements. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most duties will be performed in at temperature-controlled office environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and requires some lifting or moving of objects. Must be capable of sitting, walking, and standing.
