This position provides support to the overall SOCSOUTH mission by providing highly specialized technical and operational related functions for the Directorate of Operations (J3). The team member shall provide program support to multiple directorates within Special Operations Command South. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. The Joint Fires Support Team of analysts shall perform tasks such as: Coordinate with the J2 to provide input and analysis for the target working group to conduct analysis of threat information and to recommend effects analysis as the mission requires.
Adhere to and comply with standards outlined in CJCSI 3122.06, 3160.01, 3162.02, and 3370.01. The Joint Fires Support Specialist shall be prepared and poised to plan, coordinate, support, execute, and/or brief at the GO level, on any of the targeting standards listed in these instructions.
Plan, prepare, and execute the bi-weekly Joint Fires Support Coordination Board for USSOUTHCOM and SOCSOUTH and integrate outputs into integration with the Joint Forces Readiness Review and Quarterly Readiness Metrics Briefing.
Utilize intelligence and operations systems such as C2IE, JADOCS, DIEE, NPW, AFATDS, PALANTIR, and target processes and procedures as they relate to operations in the SOUTHCOM Aera of Responsibility.
Provide the expertise/guidance necessary to manage the Joint Fires Support Cycle and provide target recommendations to the TSOC Commander from a Special Operations Forces perspective to include sensitive activities and overt operations. Coordinate with force providers and higher HQs (USSOCOM and USSOUTHCOM) to ensure timely submission of effects requests for dynamic and deliberate targeting. Provide targeting advice to SOCSOUTH staff relative to Special Operations plans and capabilities as directed by the J3.
Attend meetings as required to provide operational targeting information/status updates to the command and staff.
Serve as a synchronizer and lead contributor for the Joint Fires Support Cycle operational planning in JPGs and OPTs based on SOF knowledge, regional expertise, legal authorities, and operational planning capacity.
Attend all community of interest meetings and video teleconferences as required.
Liaise with Geographical Combatant Commands (GCCs) staff, Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), USSOUTHCOM components, and subordinate staff to facilitate effects into SOCSOUTH targets and the development of strategic & operational-level plans. Requirements 10 years prior military experience, experience working in a SOF headquarters required.
Shall possess a minimum of 10 years of fires/targeting experience within the DoD at any level.
Graduate of all the following courses:Joint Targeting Staff Course Joint Operations Fires Effects Course Shall possess and maintain a current TS/SCI clearance.
