Position Summary: Dr. Bon-Mi Gu's laboratory in the Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center has an opening for a highly motivated technician interested in studying systems-level circuitry underlying movement disorders such as Parkinson's Disease. Current projects in the lab include studies of both motor and non-motor activity in a mouse model of PD using in vivo electrophysiology, optogenetics, and photometry; and studies involving pharmacological and optogenetic manipulations in mouse models of movement disorders. The successful applicant will be responsible for Ordering and maintaining lab supplies and reagents. Histology (mouse brain immunohistochemistry). Behavioral testing and virus injection surgeries in mice. Performing optogenetics and photometry experiments in awake mice Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree is required, along with prior lab experience. An organized, proactive professional who will support research projects in the lab. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Fine motor skills (e.g., for brain slicing and mouse surgery). Strong motivation and interest in systems neuroscience research. Prior experience in any of the following areas will be highly appreciated: histology, rodent handling, MATLAB or Phyton programming, 3D printing design, and Arduino software What we offer: A great opportunity to acquire multiple high-tech systems neuroscience skills.
