IT Support Specialist Manager

Role Mission

The IT Support Specialist first and second levels of technical support to teachers and staff, and assists the Managing Director of Technology in installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining the schools' technology infrastructure.

Overview of the role:

  • Provides outstanding technical support to school teachers and staff.
  • Responds to support requests posted on the help desk ticketing system and escalates issues if necessary.
  • Updates and maintains an inventory of devices, parts, and supplies using the asset management system.
  • Keeps current on emerging technologies and platforms and provides advice on possible introduction and integration within the school.
  • Maintains the appropriate mix of business knowledge, technical skills, and competencies that balance the agility required to achieve continuous improvement and ensure that core IT functions are reliable, stable, and efficient.

Your day to day:


  • Ability to add and modify user roles and settings in Google Workspace and Windows Active Directory.
  • Foundational knowledge of computer network operations, demonstrating understanding of key concepts like TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and other protocols.Intermediate/advanced understanding of Excel/Google spreadsheets and relational databases for rostering and maintaining LMS, inventory, and other supported systems.
  • Providing support for managing Chromebooks and other Chrome OS devices using Google Admin Console.
  • Supporting Windows and MacBook laptop computers and peripherals.
  • Managing/supporting tablets and other devices, including iPad/Tablet initiatives and desktop computers deployed across the charter school network using an MDM solution.
  • Supporting interactive flat panel boards, projectors, and other front-of-classroom technology.
  • Troubleshooting VoIP telephone systems, IP, and digital desk phones.
  • Supporting wired and wireless networking, including switches, cabling, wireless access points, and access point controllers.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

What you will bring:

  • Require 1-2 years of technical support experience in a multi-platform environment (e.g., Chrome OS, Mac OS, and Windows OS), preferably in an educational setting.
  • Intermediate/advanced understanding of Excel/Google spreadsheets
  • Experience using Windows command line is a plus and may include familiarity with batch scripting and PowerShell for system administration tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team, and with coworkers with varying IT skill levels.
  • Relevant education and certifications in CompTIA A+ or Network+ and/or Google IT Support Professional are a plus.
