Summary You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Cybersecurity Support (CS) Division, TRDIENT Refit Facility (TRIFEFFAC-KB), Kings Bay, Georgia, Code 640, within the Information Systems (IS) Department, TRIFEFFAC-KB Code 600 of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY. Duties You will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and administration of all non-tactical data processing required of the command. You will be responsible for hardware/software procurement, installation, and maintenance; software development, maintenance; cybersecurity user authorization, compliance, auditing, training, implementation of IT related products and services. You will be responsible for serving as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) in the CS Division, TRIREFFAC-KB, Code 640. You will be responsible for assisting the command IS Security Manager (ISSM) with the integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the analysis, development, and implementation of IS security programs, policies, and procedures. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This is a bargaining unit position. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. This position is designated as a Cyberspace Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in DODM 8140.03 CONTROL SYSTEMS SECURITY SPECIALIST proficiency level INTERMEDIATE within 12 months of appointment. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment or Relocation) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements for this position. Occasional overnight travel is required to attend training, meetings, and conferences. Qualifications I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Testing and optimizing the functionality of systems, networks, and data.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Utilizing performance tuning methods to resolve infrastructure, software, hardware and network systems problems for customers.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: briefing managers or customers on the technical requirements for the design, development, and support of systems and networks.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Utilizing systems diagnostic tools to diagnose and recover failed systems.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience participating in systems and network design and modifications to ensure the implementation of the appropriate systems security policies and CS controls.
Experience assisting in the gathering, analysis, and preservation of evidence that is used in the prosecution of computer crimes and CS infractions; reporting the findings; and submitting the results for recommendations for corrective actions.
Experience coordinating with IT personnel to develop and test the local CS Contingency Plan and Cyber Incident Handling Plan to ensure that confidentiality, integrity, availability, and recoverability of critical IS and data are achieved during and after an incident or disaster.
Experience ensuring that all users have the requisite security clearances and assess security events to determine the impact and implementation of corrective actions.
Experience conducting system security evaluations, audits, and reviews to ensure compliance with the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of the Navy (DON) policy and directives and identity vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs.
Experience assisting in developing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral.OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree.OR
Possession of an LL.M. that is related to this position being filled.
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
