Job Summary:

This role is going to serve multiple purposes within the IT department at Peckham. An IT Security Intern will work both with Information Technology and IT Security teams to assist with related projects. Each day you will come into the office and help with basic IT Support items that arise while also supporting IT Security with the latest topics that arise, or vice versa. You will gain a tremendous amount of experience in all layers of the OSI model and IT Security stack by joining the team.


Essential Functions:

Security Tasks

Examples include:

1. Assist, Develop and Review IT Policy, Standards and Procedures

2. Manage Cybersecurity Awareness program2, including coordinating education and phishing campaigns for the entire company.

3. Track metrics for company education and phishing campaign with comprehensive reports

4. Develop and promote content for IT Security Awareness

5. Measure risk within the vulnerability management program through criticality, severity and impact caused by the existing threats.

6. Research how to remediate vulnerabilities to embed into our IT patching program.

7. Create presentations for status meetings and all hands for both technical and non-technical audiences.

8. Shadow IT Security leader and assist on tasks as needed.

9. Record critical points during meetings and inform IT Security leader of action items.

10. Assume the role of the primary support and assistant to the IT Security leader.



IT Tasks

Examples Include:

1. Interview and Coordinate with IT employees to understand existing protocols and process

2. Create draft procedure documents according to IT Security requirements and templates

3. Assist with daily IT support objectives as needed

4. Remediate vulnerabilities based on severity and asset criticality priorities

5. Remediate vulnerable reported phishing emails

6. Setup new devices (workstations, firewalls, servers, etc.)



Requirements, Education and Experience:

  1. Be enrolled in college currently with a degree such as (Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, etc.)
  2. One or more Certifications such as (Security +, Network +, A+, Azure 900)
  3. Ability to work independently and learn on your own.
  4. Proficient in 0365 products
  5. Knowledge in Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems
  6. Understanding of Information Security Controls
  7. Education and Awareness knowledge and insight to promote best practices within the company.
  8. Outgoing personality and ability to work well with others.
  9. Must be motivated and willing to learn and develop new IT Security best practices.
  10. Ability to work Hybrid: 5 days a week, come into office 2-3 days a week and 2-3 days remote. Flexibility is offered.
  11. Ability to go to offsite locations to provide IT support and maintenance as needed
  12. Will agree to a 1 year at minimum internship with Peckham Industries.

Travel:

Position may require up to 5% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.


Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. This is mostly sedentary, outside of travel, in an office space. The abilities to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bending, or standing, as necessary, are required.
