Duties You will serve as the Arms Ammunition and Explosive (AA and E) advisor to the Field Office Support Officer (FOSO) on all matters concerning weapons, ammunition, and related law enforcement equipment. You will provide options and recommendations regarding future requirements and direction of the agency's ammunition selections, automated reporting technologies and storage alternatives. You will instruct agents and other personnel regarding the capabilities, operating procedures, and safety precautions for the components, systems, and techniques utilized with all weapons and special equipment. You will serve as the Vehicle Coordinator, Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS) Coordinator, Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO) Coordinator for the Field Office and sub-component offices. You will review source data and reports generated by the Fleet Management Information Systems (FMIS) for errors that pertain to vehicle compliance requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time Must be able to pass an Ordnance Explosive Physical. Examination consists of a hearing test, eye test, and physical capability test per NAVSEA OP 5, 2-3.1 Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license You will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. The position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 This position is restricted to applicants with veterans preference. Qualifications GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Serving as the subject matter expert for arms and explosives requirements; managing the equipment and other materials needed for operational goals; AND managing fleet and material handling equipment operations for various customers. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical information regarding arms and explosives requirements; assisting with the management of the equipment needed for operational goals; AND assisting with fleet management. Education Applicants may substitute specialized experience with meeting one of the education requirements below: GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related OR A combination of education and experience totaling 100% GS-09: Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related OR A combination of education and experience totaling 100% Additional information Duties involve the control, accountability, and shipment of arms, ammunition, and explosives (AA&E). Must be able to obtain and maintain (AA&E) security certification/screening. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
