The Interim Controller/Accounting Manager

The Interim Controller/Accounting Manager directs all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, audits, tax filings, AP, AR and payroll, and internal controls over these areas. Assists with annual budgets, forecasts and reporting on key indicators as well as supervision of multiple direct reports. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY

  • Interim Controller/Accounting Manager supervises, monitor, and evaluate the performance of accounting staff; recommend and implement personnel actions such as training, development and promotions.
  • Responsible for the overall management and results of the accounting department including hiring and dismissals in accordance with HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain in a timely and accurate manner the general ledger and register through reconciliation of source documents.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, arrange for electronic transfer of funds and monitor cash accounts daily. Manage use and levels of the company's revolving LOC.
  • Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items. Book assets and liabilities from capitalized items, including leased assets.
  • Prepares operational reports for management analysis, including aging accounts receivables and payables, cash position, and financials. Some reporting on a weekly basis to Sr. Management team and other key personnel within the company.
  • Receive and record requests for disbursements; authorize disbursements in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to support the financial infrastructure.
  • Prepare and present financial reporting and potential risk areas to senior management.
  • Manage month-end closing, and record necessary entries (recurring & non-recurring) to complete financials for multiple related entities.
  • Prepare Project Cash flow forecasts.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS FOR ACCOUNTING MANAGER:

  • Accounting Manager will prepare monthly financials, including consolidated financials across multiple subsidiaries.
  • Knowledgeable and informative analysis of results. Demonstrated ability and willingness to explain results and findings to Sr. Management.
  • Accurate recording of all company transactions, across all subsidiaries.
  • Maintenance of accurate sub-ledger reconciliations, including depreciation and amortization schedules where applicable.
  • Tight adherence to monthly, quarterly and annual reporting schedules for multiple groups, including financial institutions, investors and others as required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in accounting or related field, preferred for Accounting Manager
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in accounting management roles
  • 2+ years' experience in construction accounting is ideal
  • Mastery of GAAP accounting in a construction environment using percentage completion method for revenue recognition preferred.
  • Experience with advanced ERP accounting software, Acumatica experience highly desirable.

  • Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting with prolonged periods of sedentary activity. Must be able to sit/stand at desk and work at a computer for prolonged periods of time
