You will process, edit, and review hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic and/or geophysical data. You will perform manual and automated evaluation, classification and distribution of hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic and/or geophysical data. You will develop and implement new and improved methods and techniques used for the collection and processing of hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic and/or geophysical data. You will assist the Senior NAVOCEANO Representative in conducting oceanographic survey operations to collecting hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic, and or geophysical data at sea aboard oceanographic survey vessels. Qualifications BASIC EDUCATION: 1301: Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics OR Combination of education and experience education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. 1313: Degree: that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.). OR Combination of education and experience courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. 1360: Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences. OR Combination of education and experience course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. EXPERIENCE: GS-09: In addition to the Basic Education Requirements, Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing oceanography or physical science such as geological, meteorological, physics, chemistry, marine science Experience collecting environmental data Experience performing computer data processing Experience compiling and integrating hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic and/or geophysical data. GS-07: In addition to the Basic Education Requirements, Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing oceanography or physical science such as geological, meteorological, physics, chemistry, marine science Experience collecting environmental data Experience performing computer data processing Experience compiling and integrating hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic and/or geophysical data. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: GS-09: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree GS-07: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
