Insulator/Metal Mechanic Overview: Insulator/Metal Mechanic install and replace the materials used to insulate building or mechanical systems. Insulator/Metal Mechanic Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Installs insulation/metal on steam, hot and cold-water piping and fittings, and air conditioning ducts. Covers insulation/metal on pipes with canvas and installs vapor barriers, waterproofing products, and metal protection sheets, do layout patterns. Anchors insulation with pins, tie wires, metal bands, screws, and other fasteners. Measures, computes, and determines the correct type of insulation and metal needed for the job. Adhere to all company safety/OSHA rules and regulations. The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required. Insulator/Metal Mechanic Qualifications: High school education or equivalent. Minimum of one year experience as an insulator. Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, and tools of the insulation trade. Must have the capability of understanding oral and written instructions, sketches, and diagrams. Insulator/Metal Mechanic Physical Demands: Must be able to climb up and down ladders, stairs, scaffolds, and other objects while carrying tools/equipment, up to 150 feet. Must have the ability to lift your whole bodyweight while climbing. Must be able to work from a manlift. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds frequently. Must be able to stand, bend, and kneel often in confined spaces. Must have ability to stand or walk for long periods. Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, and a dusty/noisy work environment. This role is classified as safety sensitive. Candidates must show the capacity to proactively initiate, effectively lead, and consistently uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
