Duties You will conduct research and analysis of strategic counterterrorism issues for the Combating Terrorism Center (CTC). Instruct classes in the CTC Terrorism Studies Program. Applicants must be confident in public speaking and teaching skills. Teach in the Practitioner Education Program to provide government personnel with the education and intellectual tools they need to understand and combat terrorist threats. You will support the personal growth and professional development of cadets in and out of the classroom as a role model for future leaders of the Nation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Appointment to this position may be subject to a one-year trial period. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance and Sensitive Compartmented Information access for the duration of employment. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time. Qualifications Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens and Non-Citizens with Allegiance to the United States This is a full-time Term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 13 Months. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) Academic Accomplishment (Master's Degree is preferred) in Security Studies, Political Science, Public Policy, and Sociology or a closely related field; 2) Ability to research and publish in a discipline relevant to political violence; 3) Demonstrated ability to teach, communicate, advise, and mentor cadets in United States Military Academy (USMA) in and out of the classroom; 4) Ability and experience in intelligence or interagency environment working in counterterrorism field is highly preferred; Education Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
