Under the general direction of the Manger Pharmacy Inpatient Operations the Pharmacist:

evaluates physician orders for appropriateness,
completes order verification
monitors medication effectiveness and safety
validates products prior to dispensing
assists with inventory management.

The Pharmacist will provide patient care services and also serve as a resource for drug information to the medical and nursing staff.

Responsible for oversite of Pharmacy Technicians working under the direction of the Pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

Order Verification

Reviews medication orders and patient profiles for drug/drug and drug/allergy interactions and therapeutic duplications.
Makes recommendations to providers and documents interventions.
Participates in monitoring medications for safety and effectiveness.

Medication Dispensing

Perform medication verification as required by law.
Oversee technician preparation of medication orders including hospital compounded medications.

Departmental Support

Participates in product selection, procurement and receiving of pharmaceuticals.
Provides medication related education and information to providers
Qualifications:

Education:

Graduate of an approved College of Pharmacy and possesses a BS degree in Pharmacy.

Experience:

Comprehensive knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

Registered Pharmacist in the state of IL and IA

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Efficient time management and prioritization of work.
Demonstrates accountability, flexibility, and teamwork.
