Job Description:

Infusion Therapy requires inter-professional collaboration among all clinicians who prescribe, dispense, and administer a wide variety of solutions, medications, nutrition, and blood components. The scope of services provided by the infusion team/vascular access team (VAT) is structured to meet patient and organizational needs for safe delivery/administration of quality infusion therapy.
Registered Nurses working in the Infusion Center will provide care for patients in our Roosevelt Cancer Care and Infusion Center and our Vernal location, as needed. The Infusion Center Nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordinator of competent, evidence-based care, which includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will participate in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency.
The position exists to manage clinical outcomes, cost, and customer satisfaction in the daily care assignment and in the operations of the Roosevelt and Vernal Center as needed. The clinician assures care for patients and families reflective of the organization's values. This position coordinates the nursing and interdisciplinary team for daily patient care assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Includes but is not limited to the following:
Competency and Competency Assessment with infusion therapy and vascular access practices as defined by the clinician s legal scope as defined by The Utah Nurse Practice Act and Standards of Nursing Practice.
Informed Consent, Nursing Assessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Outcome Identification, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation of Patient care that includes Clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care and needs while establishing priorities and documentation in the patient's health record.
Reviewing and following physician orders and following the 5 rights of medication administration.
Proficient in Venous access needed for the organization's vascular access team.
Coordination among coworkers, clinicians, administration, and patient care teams.
Organization and clerical skills including answering phones, taking messages, scheduling appointments and being familiar with the preauthorization of medication administration process.
Reviewing charts, and charging for services rendered.
Supervise and monitor the care provided by LPNs and CNAs.
Chemotherapy certified.
Critical thinking on wound care and management of wounds.
Monitor the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
Provide a high level of patient confidentiality.
Recognize and appreciate cultural diversity.
Housekeeping tasks as needed.
Restock supplies, and organize department needs.
Other duties and tasks assigned.

EDUCATION:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:
Current Utah State license to practice as a Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
OTHER SKILLS
Language is the ability to read, write, and comprehend written instructions, correspondence, and reports.
Presentation, ability to speak effectively with other employees and/or students, and to present information in one-on-one group situations.
Reasoning, ability to apply understanding to carry out detailed but basic written and/or verbal instructions, and problem-solving.
Math, ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10s, 100s, and 1,000s
Other, occasionally assist other departments in the hospital as needed and participate in hospital-associated health fairs, and community education awareness programs, and implement and prepare disaster plans.
