ExcelCare at Manalapan, a premier long-term care facility in New Jersey, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Infection Preventionist to join our team. The Infection Preventionist will play a crucial role in implementing and overseeing infection control measures to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations, CDC guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify infection risks and areas for improvement.
- Provide education and training to staff on infection prevention protocols, including hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and environmental cleaning.
- Monitor and investigate suspected outbreaks of infectious diseases, and implement appropriate control measures to contain and prevent further spread.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement strategies to prevent healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
- Collect, analyze, and report data on infection rates, outbreaks, and compliance with infection prevention practices.
- Serve as a resource and liaison to regulatory agencies, healthcare professionals, and community partners on infection prevention matters.
- Stay informed about emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and other relevant topics, and update policies and practices accordingly.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary team meetings to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the facility administration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, microbiology, public health, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
- Current RN/ LPN license in the state of New Jersey preferred.
- Certification in infection control (CIC) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in infection prevention and control, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
