As the Onsite Infection Prevention and Medical Records Nurse, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of our residents, staff, and visitors, while also overseeing our medical records system. This position requires an on-call schedule. Here's what you'll be responsible for:


- Monitoring healthcare-associated infections and implementing necessary precautions.

- Identifying infection prevention issues and recommending corrective actions.

- Facilitating the infection prevention committee meetings and preparing agendas.

- Overseeing infection prevention practices across all departments.

- Developing and reviewing infection prevention policies and procedures.

- Conducting outbreak investigations and implementing control measures.

- Reporting communicable diseases to state authorities as required by law.

- Providing comprehensive educational offerings for staff orientation and ongoing training.

- Collaborating with department heads and physicians to enhance care standards.

- Following up on employee and resident exposures to communicable diseases.

- Serving as a knowledgeable resource for all departments.

- Contributing to performance improvement initiatives.

- Participating in short- and long-term planning for the infection prevention department.


In addition to these responsibilities, you'll also:


- Ensure timely completion of resident and staff vaccination programs.

- Oversee all aspects of the medical records system.

- Advocate for our Antibiotic Stewardship Program.

- Calculate and communicate nosocomial infection rates to relevant stakeholders.

- Maintain accurate records for the surveillance program.

- Coordinate the resident health program, including tuberculosis testing and vaccinations.

- Conduct annual in-services and competency assessments as needed.


Qualifications:


- Current state license as a registered nurse.

- Previous experience in infection control.

- Certification in infection prevention is preferred.
