Qualifications/Requirements for an Infection Control Preventionist Nurse - Is a graduate of a state approved school of nursing combined with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Has a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Previous experience in a similar role and healthcare setting. Requires strong leadership abilities.
- Current knowledge of State and Federal regulations with proven ability to apply to day-to-day nursing programs.
- Superior knowledge of quality assurance, quality improvement and clinical components in Post-Acute Care and Skilled Nursing Practices.
- Strong computer skills required including a functional competency with Point Click Care.

Essential Job Functions for the position - Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct our infection prevention and control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern such requirements in nursing care facilities.
- Ensure that facility is following current CDC, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection prevention and control.
- Develop, maintain, and periodically update infection prevention and control processes and techniques in accordance with current best practices.
- Review, modify and interpret infection prevention and control policies and procedures as necessary.
- Monitor infection prevention and control practices and procedures to ensure that all personnel are implementing our standard operating procedures for tasks involving exposure to blood/body fluids.
- Represent the Infection Prevention and Control Committee at the facility QAPI Committee.
- Make rounds to nursing units for the purpose of case findings, review of environmental sanitation procedures, and supervision of standard and transmission-based precautions/practices.
- Prepare monthly summaries of all resident/personnel infections, corrective action taken, and the results of the corrective action. Submit copies to the Administrator and Director of Nursing Services.
- Provide the Director of Nursing Services with a report of pertinent findings and recommendations pertaining to communicable diseases, healthcare-associated infections, and antibiotic stewardship.
- Maintain a written record of all residents and employees with community or healthcare associated infections.
- Serve on, participate in, and attend Infection Prevention and Control Committee meetings.
- Provide employee orientation, training, and counseling as outlined in our infection prevention and control employee health programs.

- This position requires a variety of activity levels including frequent standing, walking, bending,
- kneeling, and stooping, crouching, occasional sitting, rarely crawling, and climbing. The employee
- may be required to frequently lift items up to 50 lbs.
