Duties You will record all measurements/sampling data as required for establishing a historical record of occupational exposure, under the direction of the cognizant IH (Industrial Hygiene) Technician. You will research sampling methods when dealing with new materials or processes. You will document workplace conditions and any apparent violations of occupational safety and health standards seen while sampling. You will write calibration procedures, establish maintenance/repair formats, maintain sampling and equipment databases, analyze equipment use and service life and compiling, and maintain equipment performance records. Qualifications For GS-06 : Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector such as: Experience completing workplace monitoring in support of Exposure Monitoring Plans for multiple industrial commands/organizations across geographically dispersed areas. Experience conducting complete workplace monitoring evaluations using various Industrial Hygiene monitoring equipment of work operations involving potentially hazardous occupational physical and chemical stressors under the direction of an Industrial Hygienist. Experience gathering data on-site for the recognized chemical and physical hazards of the work operations monitored. Experience documenting workplace conditions and any apparent violations of occupational safety and health standards during the monitoring of work operations. Experience managing IH monitoring equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair programs within an industrial hygiene program office. Experience utilizing an electronic data warehouse application such as the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) to enter occupational exposure monitoring data. For GS-05 : Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector such as: Experience completing workplace monitoring in support of Exposure Monitoring Plans for multiple industrial commands/organizations across geographically dispersed areas. Experience conducting complete workplace monitoring using various IH monitoring equipment of work operations involving potentially hazardous occupational physical and chemical stressors under the direction of an Industrial Hygienist. Experience managing monitoring equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair programs within an industrial hygiene program office. Experience utilizing MS Office Suite software such as Words, Excel, and/or Access. Experience utilizing an electronic data warehouse application to enter occupational exposure monitoring data. Education For GS-06: Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One half year (6 months) of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-06. For GS-05: Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Health Aid and Technician Series, 0640 Individual Occupational Requirements: Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position.
