Recommend solutions to potential or current health hazards in the work environment. Conduct assessments ensuring buildings are in compliance with government health. Perform respirator testing, providing training on usage and care. Help Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. A pre-placement medical examination is required. This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. This position has been designated "Mission Essential". The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. This position may require 24/7 on-call duty. Incumbent must be able to possess or obtain and maintain Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Reporting System (DOEHRS-IH) Certification within six months of hire date. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify for GS-7 - One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience: 1) helping identify workplace safety hazards and 2) helping with independent inspections. Education: At least one (1) full year of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university that is directly related to the work of the position such as Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Physical or Life Sciences. (Note: You MUST include a copy of your transcripts.) Combination of Experience and Education (Note: You must include a copy of your transcripts.) To qualify for GS-8 - One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes using industrial hygiene concepts and practices by performing independent inspections and evaluating hazardous work conditions. Education: at least one and one half (1 1/2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university that is directly related to the work of the position such as Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Physical or Life Sciences. (Note: You MUST include a copy of your transcripts.) Combination of Experience and Education (Note: You must include a copy of your transcripts.) To qualify for GS-9 - One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) conducting Industrial Hygiene surveys, 2) analyzing survey results, and 3) educating the workforce on potential health hazards. Education: completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree or at least two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university that is directly related to the work of the position such as Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Physical or Life Sciences. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
