Job Description

  • Serve as the lead industrial designer on cross-functional Moen project teams with design integrity and a passion for meaningful collaboration to balance what is desirable to our end users, what is viable for the business goals, what is feasible to manufacture.
  • Independently lead multiple fast-paced projects at one time with mentorship from senior industrial designers.
  • Individually lead each phase of the design process across discovery research, initial concept development and testing, final CAD development, and final design story documentation.
  • Manage support from other industrial designers as needed with thoughtful delegation skills.
  • Initiate thorough design briefs to refine relevant style targets, define user requirements and to communicate necessary design tasks and timelines - enabling upfront alignment across project teams and relevant stakeholders.
  • Apply advanced elements of art and principles of design to form, color, finishes and graphics while balancing user-centered functionality and ergonomics.
  • Create sketches and 3D prototypes to explore ergonomic, human factors and form issues.
  • Develop cohesive product collections that possess shared strong visual collection language elements.
  • Define refined concepts with detailed color, material, and finish documentation.
  • Communicate with vendors, suppliers, engineering, product owners, and project managers to ensure concepts are clearly understood and enable effective collaboration to refine final CAD models for feasible manufacturing.
  • Create presentations that clearly communicate the authentic design story for each project to inform authentic storytelling across all commercialization strategies and marketing content creation.
  • Collaborate with consumer insights and user experience teams to actively participate in and promote discovery research and on-trend and design style research to build the design story.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to industry trade shows and design fairs to track global design industry trends and present top opportunities to inspire the business.
  • Propel and evolve the Moen visual brand language to meaningfully embody our core values.
  • Develop impactful, award-winning designs to elevate the Moen brand.
  • Occasionally collaborate with design teams supporting fellow FBIN brands within House of Rohl, Outdoors, Security and Connected Products - creating impactful synergies for the organization.


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A bachelor s degree in industrial design is required.
  • 3-6 years of Industrial Design experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute responsibilities listed above.
  • Advanced skill and experience in the following is required:
    • 2-D hand + digital sketching and rendering skills:
      • Programs: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Sketchbook Pro, etc.,
    • 3-D digital modeling and rendering skills:
      • Programs: Solidworks, Keyshot
      • Solidworks experience is preferred as this will be the mandatory CAD package for all Moen projects to ensure efficient collaboration with engineering teams.
    • Strong verbal and visual presentation skills:
      • Programs: InDesign, PPT, Miro
      • Ability to clearly communicate design inspiration and intent internally to project teams and leadership teams as well as externally to customers and merchants.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple complex and fast-paced projects at once.
  • A keen eye for global trend forecasting across macro cultural drivers, fashion, architecture, furniture, housewares, kitchen, bath, and CMF.
  • A strong passion for thoughtful form development across ALL décor styles from traditional to contemporary.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and demonstrated ability to preserve design intent while working with tight manufacturing constraints. Experience with metal casting processes is a plus.
  • Flexible, creative, resilient, and driven to maintain design excellence from project start to finish.
  • Team-focused attitude, with the desire to share knowledge, assist others and work together to achieve great results.
