Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Space Systems Payload & Ground systems in Azusa, CA is seeking an HVAC & Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team. This role is represented by a bargaining unit union organization. Determines methods and sequences used to install, overhaul, service and maintain all types of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, ventilating and associated equipment as related to air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Work Performed
Performs preventive maintenance, overhauls and/or repairs, heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, including but not limited to gas-fired furnaces, and gas-fired hot water boilers, chillers, condensing units, freezers, packaged units and related controls and equipment. Works in conjunction with Maintenance Mechanic on exhaust air systems to retain proper air balance. Fabricates and installs duct work needed for installation of air conditioning systems. Inspects, adjusts and calibrates heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and controls to insure efficient operation and determine need for repairs, replacement or overhaul. Must be capable of operating power equipment to perform the required tasks. Adjusts, resets, troubleshoots various computerized energy management systems. Trouble shoots electrical/electronic panels/components part of air conditioning, refrigeration equipment. Provides documentation and proper recording of Maintenance Department records including preventive maintenance. Observes company, OSHA and Safety regulations. Performs related and incidental work assignments as required. Must be physically capable of working in high places from ladders etc. Must be able to follow exacting written and verbal instructions. Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, and 6+ years of commercial or industrial experience in HVAC & refrigeration
College or trade school with a minimum of 30 units of air conditioning or equivalent experience
Fundamental knowledge of electrical/electronics
Possess EPA approval refrigerant handling certification
Possess a valid state of CA drivers' license
Must obtain required certifications necessary to perform job function
Must be computer literate to the extent required to perform job functions and proper recording and documentation of maintenance records
